5 Things To Do When You're Bored This Summer

28 April 2016

While I'm writing this, I have to fight back the urge to sneeze every five minutes. My eyes are watery, and my voice has become nasal and deep. Might be TMI, but this feels so weird considering I've had a small voice my entire life, hahaha. Also, I feel like Phoebe Buffay when she caught a cold and loved her "sexy singing voice" from it. I could sing random songs with this not-so-sexy voice, too, but I'd much rather not as I really want to get this post up today.

Out of all the people who have the potential to read this, one of you is probably sitting at home (and let's all face it), bored. If you're that person, would you mind reading a list that could possibly save you from that load? If not, then here goes...

 1. See how many tv series (or Korean dramas) you can finish in a week day.

Go ahead and binge watch that tv series you've always wanted to see. Yes, it's probably not the healthiest thing to do, but hey, at least you won't be bored. Personally, binge watching is like my ultimate super hero power / hidden talent. Sorry not sorry. Here's a list of 10 tv series I've been seeing people rave about everywhere:

Friends (only the best, duh)

Gossip Girl
Grey's Anatomy
How To Get Away With Murder
How I Met Your Mother
Pretty Little Liars
Sex And The City (not the movies)
Teen Wolf
The Flash
The Walking Dead

And if you're into Korean dramas, I suggest you watch Descendants Of The Sun (photo above) starring my favourite Song-Song couple. The drama was so good, they had to make 3 more special episodes after it ended. And I'm not here to spoil anyone, but in my effort of convincing you take my word on this and really watch DOTS, just please do yourself a favour, go on Google or YouTube, and search "Song Joong Ki smiling/walking/breathing" hihihi. If what you'll see there is not enough to make you immediately go to Drama Love and watch the series, then I'm sorry huhu.

 2. Clean and organize your closet.

This is something I tend to always put off for the past couple of weeks since summer vacation has started even though I tell myself to do it almost everyday. And it was only the other day that I finally got around to really clean my closet. Seriously guys, just do it. In the process, I guarantee you that you'll find at least 20 pieces of clothing that you don't wear anymore. And who knows? You're probably never gonna wanna wear them ever again. So what better thing to do than just give them away to somebody who can make a better use out of them – like your younger siblings/cousins for example. You can also choose to either sell them or donate them to charity. Trust me, you'll feel 10 times better afterwards. And honestly, my closet has never looked better and less crowded after I did this. If it helps, with more closet space, you can do more shopping. Hahaha!

 3. Make an easy DIY project.

If you're "nanghihinayang" or you just don't feel like giving away your old clothes for now, that's okay. But maybe you can get yourself to wear them again rather than just keeping them in your closet all the time. How? Spice them up, give them a new look and/or purpose through this magic I call, DIY Clothing. In one of my earliest posts on this blog, I talked about how I DIY-ed a certain top that I actually never really wore before that. You can read about it here.

DIY-ing is a great way to escape boredom (and also be productive) at home. I especially like making DIY room decors. Last summer, I made quite a few for my room, and among them are a flower vase and a photo wall collage (photo above). Though these are not my original ideas – they were inspired by Pinterest – I would still be more than happy to show you how I made them. Maybe I could talk about them on some blog posts in the future? Who knows?

 4. Spend more time with your loved ones.

This is very important. Now that I'm off the burden of overloaded school works, I have more time to spend with my family. And can I just say that my family is really clingy? (1) We don't travel at all if we're not going all together. Right now is a very good example as we have zero plans for out-of-town/country trips because we're waiting for my sister's summer break. We just can't leave without her, hahaha! (2) Even though my sister studies in Manila, and she's away a lot, we always, always have to make time for family bonding especially on weekends. If we have to drive the 1-2 hours to her place even when the sun has already gone down, we absolutely will. Because when we're finally all together, we really make the most out of it.

 5. Start a blog.

The only thing I can say about this is: Why not? Personally, one of the reasons why I love blogging is that at the end of the day I can write about all the little things I've done and all the little adventures I've had. I like using up my creative juices this way. And somehow, yes, I get to document my life as well, hahaha. I also have somewhere to express myself freely, and just write about the things I love – actually, writing in itself is something I love.

In 10 years time, things are gonna be different with me and with everyone else. But the things I've written here will still be the same. And I think that's really nice to think about. So give it a try. Maybe you'll like it. Maybe not, but that's okay. You can try other things as well – whatever you want, really. If you don't like writing, but you still want to do something like this on the internet, then maybe you can do vlogging? It's up to you. The world is yours, my darling. Own it.

Did you guys like my list? I really wish you did. It's almost May, so the rainy season is starting. Finally! The heat here in the Philippines has been too much especially last week. A break from this warm weather is definitely long overdue. Have a lovely day wherever you are, take care always, and love lots!

  1. Well, you're right... I'm sitting here at home, hahaha. Loved the list; thanks for these tips! I look forward to your posts about the photo wall and vase. Also, it would be nice if you could give links to nice Pinterest DIY boards or accounts to follow. Anyway, thank you for inspiring me personally to blog and vlog again. ♡

    1. Buti na lang you loved the list! Sure thing. Thanks bes! :)

  2. Love the list. Could totally relate especially about the binge-watching. Hahaha! I've watched Friends, HIMYM, HTGAWM over and over, plus a few other TV series and movies more! Then I'd feel guilty for being so unproductive. But then again, whatever bc I've got nothing else to do in the first place. Haha!

    Love, The Diary Queen

    1. I'm glad you loved it, Da! I have yet to watch HTGAWM since a lot of my friends have been talking about it nonstop. I wonder if it's really that good. Hahaha! No worries about feeling unproductive, just consider it a well-deserved break from time to time - at least I know that's what I do! Xx
